Did you know you can view and download a copy of an EPC instantly online providing that the property has had an Energy Performance Assessment done within the last 10 years?

In just over 2 weeks the new MEES (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard) regulations come in to force and from 1st April 2018 you will no longer be able to agree new tenancies or renew existing tenancies for properties with an EPC rating of band F or G.

The penalty for renting out a property on a new or renewal tenancy on a property that does not meet the MEES is up to £5000 per property plus the enforcement authority can publish some details of the landlord’s breach on a publicly accessible part of the PRS Exemptions Register. The enforcement authority can decide how long to leave the information on the Register, but it will be available for view by the public for at least 12 months.
